West Country Rural Ltd was established in 2016 by Lizzie Chance (née Burton) MRICS FAAV RICS VRS Registered Valuer. The company provides a wide range of professional services to farmers and land owners across Devon and Cornwall and the surrounding counties. Lizzie qualified as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2010 simultaneously qualifying as a RICS Registered Valuer, a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) in 2013 and as a particular area of interest, Lizzie recently completed a diploma in Arbitration via the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Main areas of work include assisting clients with landlord and tenant matters including rent reviews, lease renewals, grass keep arrangements, end of tenancy dilapidations/ingoing tenant valuations etc; dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration; RPA Countryside Stewardship and SFI applications and appeals; valuations of rural property for a variety of purposes; preliminary tax planning in conjunction with accountants and solicitors; planning applications for a variety of agricultural and equestrian developments including farm buildings and dwellings as well as diversification projects; compulsory purchase and compensation; sales of land and farms; and assisting land owner clients to navigate strategic development opportunities.

Lizzie has worked in a number of different regions in England and is able to draw on a wealth of knowledge, experience and professional contacts to find the right solution for your farming business or enhance the management and enjoyment of your property.

Kimberley CrossKimberley Cross
Assistant Land Agent

Kim joined WCR in 2024 as an assistant land agent to Lizzie Chance. Kim enjoys carrying out a wide range of professional work, including Countryside Stewardship grant applications, Sustainable Farming Incentive applications and agreement management, assisting to prepare planning applications, compensation claims and valuation of rural property. Kim is working towards gaining professional qualifications through the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Outside of the office, Kim enjoys riding horses and climbing mountains.

Natalie RobinsonNatalie Robinson
Office Manager and Administrator

Natalie joined WCR as office manager and administrator in 2025. Natalie lives locally near Drewsteignton with her husband, who is a farmer and agricultural contractor; they have two young sons.

Outside of work, Natalie enjoys spending time with her children and the family spaniel, baking and walking on Dartmoor.

Sara SpencerSara Spencer
Office Manager and Administrator

Sara joined WCR as a part-time Office Manager and Administrator in April 2026. Sara lives locally in North Tawton with her husband who is a retired stockbroker and financial advisor and has a grown up son living in Buckinghamshire.

She has recently moved to Devon after a period of 4 years living and working in Alderney in the Channel Islands and 20 years in the Ariege and Herault in the south of France.

Alongside working at WCR, Sara is a landscape and abstract artist/painter but also enjoys cooking, walking, photography, and gardening.

Amy FunnellAmy Funnell

Amy joined WCR with a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Exeter. She is currently working towards an MProf in Rural Estate and Land Management at Harper Adams University, with the aim of progressing towards the RICS and CAAV examinations following completion of her studies.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time in the countryside and with family and friends.
